Short Story genre gets a BOOST

Announcement that the Nobel Prize for literature has gone to a writer of short stories is good for a genre which often takes a back seat to novels.  Heartening also that it has gone to a female writer.
"Canadian short-story writer Alice Munro has been awarded the Nobel Prize in literature. Ms. Munro is only the thirteenth woman to win the prize since its inception in 1901.
The Swedish Academy, which awarded Ms. Munro the 8 million Swedish-kronor ($1.25 million) prize in Stockholm on Thursday, said in a brief statement that it picked the 82-year-old author because she is the "master of the contemporary short story."
